At DDG, we love seeing where creativity starts. For some, it's art, music, or design school. For others, it's something unexpected – like a childhood video game that sparked a lifelong love of creativity. For Joslynne Macasieb, our Fall Intern, that spark came from FreeRealms, a game filled with color, characters, and imagination.
“From the branding to the typography, to the character design to the animation, every aspect of the game's design intrigued me and became the motivational factor to pursue design.”
Josylynne Macasieb, Graphic Design student at SDSU
Designing for Joy
Joslynne’s dream isn’t tied to one big brand — it’s about designing for any gaming company. Why? Because games bring people joy. And that’s the heart of good design — making something that connects and makes people feel something.
“I would love to design for any gaming company because of my love for games and how they bring joy to their consumers.”
Music, Flow, and Finding Focus
When she’s designing, you’ll catch her vibing to 2000s R&B — think Chris Brown and Usher. It’s that mix of rhythm and nostalgia that helps her get in the zone.
And if she wasn’t designing? Probably diving into tech — Computer Science or Software Engineering. Either way, it’s still creative problem-solving, just in a different form.
Growth Through the Process
Design takes patience — something Joslynne has learned along the way—edits, guidelines, and sometimes starting over from scratch — all part of the process.
“Design has taught me to be patient when trying to problem-solve various design complications.”
Proud Moments
One project that stands out is the Robot Kitbash. Joslynne created a TV Head and Wand Accessory — and seeing others use them in their own work? That’s what made it special.
“I was overjoyed to see others use my objects for their own robot.”
Stories like Joslynne’s remind us why we love what we do — design that connects, inspires, and builds community.
At DDG, we believe creativity starts anywhere — even in a video game.
