Where Culture Becomes Celebration: DDG at PASACAT’s Annual Parol Festival

Working with local nonprofits like PASACAT is always a good reminder of why we do this work. They’re one of the most respected Filipino American cultural groups in San Diego, but more than that, they know how to bring families together—especially during the holidays.

This year’s Annual Parol Festival felt like exactly that. Families showed up deep. Kids building parols. Parents reconnecting with traditions. PASACAT doing what they’ve done for over 50 years—preserving culture through dance, music, and storytelling.

As we’ve partnered with PASACAT, a big part of the conversation has been around brand consistency. They’ve built decades of credibility as one of the premier Filipino dance companies in San Diego and beyond. That legacy deserves to show up not just on stage, but everywhere else too.

Strong cultural institutions deserve strong visual identities. Clean. Consistent. Confident. Something that reflects who they are and how long they’ve been doing the work.

For this year’s festival, we designed a one-off event shirt—just a small example of how thoughtful design can elevate the experience and help the brand feel unified across events, merch, and community moments.

Being at the festival felt like watching heritage in motion. You could see the pride. The storytelling. Kids absorbing culture in real time. That’s culture as strategy—identity and lived experience leading the way.

Huge love to the PASACAT team for holding space for Filipino families across San Diego for half a century. And to everyone who came out—this community feels alive because of you.

Moments like these remind us why culture matters. When you protect it, you protect community. When you uplift it, you strengthen the future.

At DDG, that’s the work we’ll keep showing up for.
